What is a sentence?

Definition of the sentence:
A group of words that makes complete sense is called sentences.
It has a full stop (.), a question mark (?), or an exclamation mark (!)
Types of sentences
- Declarative/ Assertive sentences
- Interrogative sentences

- Exclamatory sentences
Declarative/ Assertive with Examples
Definition:
An assertive sentence is defined as which describes things or reports events is called an assertive sentence.
Types of Declarative sentence
- Affirmative
- Negative
Affirmative Sentences
The sentences which are accepted are called affirmative sentences.
Examples:
| You are a crazy boy. | تم پاگل لڑکے ہو۔ |
| Ayesha is a smart girl. | آئمہ ہوشیار لڑکی ہے۔ |
| I am going home. | میں گھر جا رہا ہوں۔ |
| It snows a lot in winter Gilgit. | گلگت میں موسم سرما میں بہت زیادہ برفباری ہوتی ہے۔ |
| The dog is sleeping on the couch. | کتا صوفے پر سو رہا ہے۔ |
| Please lend me your shirt. | براہ کرم مجھے اپنی شرٹ ادھار دیں۔ |
| A river flows through the valley. | وادی میں سے ایک دریا بہتا ہے۔ |
| You are an engineer. | آپ ایک انجئینر ہیں۔ |
Negative Sentences
Definition:
The sentences which are not accepted are called negative sentences.
Examples:
| You can’t read English. | آپ انگریزی نہیں پڑھ سکتے۔ |
| This is not our house. | یہ ہمارا گھر نہیں ہے۔ |
| I don’t like you. | میں آپ کو پسند نہیں کرتا ہو |
| I can’t wait anymore for you. | میں آپ کا مزید انتظار نہیں کر سکتا۔ |
| We can’t go there. | ہم وہاں نہیں جاسکتے۔ |
| You are not a good boy. | تم ایک اچھے لڑکے نہیں ہو۔ |
| We won’t go there. | ہم وہاں نہیں جائیں گے۔ |
| You didn’t do this. | تم نے یہ نہیں کیا۔ |
Interrogative sentences
Definition:
In such sentences, a question is asked. They start with a helping verb or a question word.
Examples:
| Have I done my duty? | کیا میں نے اپنا فرض ادا کیا ہے؟ |
| Do we go to school on foot? | کیا ہم پاؤں پر سکول جاتے ہیں؟ |
| What do you wanna have? | آپ کیا کھانا چاہتے ہو؟ |
| Do we go to the market in the car? | کیا ہم گاڑی پر مارکیٹ جاتے ہیں؟ |
| Where are you going? | آپ کہاں جارہے ہو؟ |
Imperative sentences with Examples
Definition:
It shows order, command, request, advice, proposal, or prohibition.
Examples:
| Do your duty. (command) | اپنا کام کرو۔ |
| Let us work hard. (advice)
Please help me. (request) |
سخت محنت کرو۔
براہ کرم میری مدد کریں۔ |
| Go and bring me some fruit. (command) | جاؤ اور مجھے کچھ پھل لا دو۔ |
| Please lend me your camera. (request) | براہ کرم مجھے اپنا کیمرہ ادھا دیں۔ |
Exclamatory sentences
Definition:
It expresses sudden action, feeling of joy, sorrow, surprise, or wonder.
Examples:
| Hurrah! We have won the match. | آہاں! ہم نے میچ جیت لیا۔ |
| Alas! I have failed. | افسوس! میں ناکام رہا ہوں۔. |
| What a lovely scene of nature! | کیا فطرت کا ایک خوبصورت منظر ہے! |
| Hello! How are you? | ہیلو! آپ کیسے ہو؟ |
| Bravo! A nice kick. | براوو! ایک اچھی کک۔ |
| Pooh! What a dirty place. | پوہ! کتنی گندی جگہ ہے۔ |
| Hush! The baby is a sleep. | چپ ہو جاؤ! بچہ نیند میں ہے۔ |
| Lo! There come daddy. | لو! ابا آئے۔ |
