In this article, you are going to learn how to write simple, easy, and effective job applications in English and Urdu.

What is Job Application

Job application is a very important document and it works as a cover letter of your documents or resumes submitted for any vacant post in any organization. A job application letter shows why you are eligible for the job you applied for.  A better and effective job application reflects the interest of the candidate towards the job. The content of the job application must demonstrate your interest in the job and communicate to the hiring firm why you are fit for the profile. So we can say better the covering letter, more the chances of calling for an interview.

Where it is needed?

While applying for any vacant post either in the private or govt sector, the hiring firm, organization, company, or department uses different ways to collect the data of eligible candidates. Some job advertisements have prescribed application form that candidate has to be filled and submitted either by hand or online. Some companies may ask to submit the CVs by hand. Some organizations require CVs by post. In short, there are many ways to do the task. One of these methods is writing a job application to the concerned officer of the organization who has advertised the vacancies.

What to include in Job Application

While writing a job application, there are different elements that are part of a job application. Each of them are explained below.

1. Subject Line

The subject line in the job application should be brief, precise, and to the point. The subject line tells the employer about the position you are applying for. The subject line is usually written in Capital letters.

For example, “JOB APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ASSISTANT MANAGER(IT)”.

The subject will be changed according to the title of the post you are applying for.

2. Salutation

Salutation is a collection of words used in a letter to address the person being written to. If you know the name of the hiring person, address him by name.

For Example:

Dear Mr.(ABC), Dear Ms.(ABC), etc. Where ABC will be replaced by the original name

If you do not know the name of the hiring person, address him/her by designation.

3. Introduction

In the first paragraph, start by mentioning the job position you are interested in and how you found out about the vacant position.

For example, If you cane to know about the vacancy through newspaper advertisement.

“This is with reference to your job vacancy for the role of Assistant Manager(IT) as advertised Daily The Jang .”

4. Middle Paragraph

This paragraph is the most important part of your letter. Remember how you gathered all that information about what employers were seeking, and how you could meet their needs? This is where you’ll share those relevant details on your experience and accomplishments.

5. Closing Paragraph

In closing, the paragraph shows your interest in the post. Show the hiring manager that you are so keen to meet him for further discussions. Many people use “Sincerely” or “Best” to close the letter, although any professional sign-off is fine to include. The final line of the letter should be your full name. If you submit a hard copy of the letter, include your signature above your name.
